Would you like to volunteer some of your time? If it is five minutes or five hours, we can use your help. It is wonderful to have someone take our dogs for walks, help clean, go with to local pet stores to show animals to the public, transport little furry friends to vet appointments, and so much more. Just give us a call and we would be happy to help you out.

We would greatly appreciate help in these following areas:

LCHS Petco Volunteer Representative Needed!

We are looking for a volunteer to take one cat and one dog to Petco the 3rd Saturday of each month and showcase these animals for adoption. The hours are 11 AM - 2 PM. These trips to Petco (Rib Mountain) are critical for our pets to be exposed to the general public and increase their chances of adoption. We simply do not have the staff resources to do this, so we're asking for help.

This role has the power to make a huge difference in the life of an animal, and in helping keep the LCHS in the forefront of people's minds.

Drivers - taking animals to & from appointments

Here are the dates that we need help with getting animals to their appointments at Wi Valley Veterinary Clinic on the north side of Wausau.

Animal appointment schedule is: March 10/17 at 8am, April 7/14 at 8 am, May 12/19 at 8 am, June 9/16 at 8 am, July 14/21 at 8 am, Aug 11/18 at 8am, Sept. 8/15 at 8am, Oct 13/20 at 8am, Nov 10/17 at 8am, Dec 8/15 at 8am

Dog Walkers

Puppy with Adopt Me Vest Our dogs love to go for walks! And it is SO IMPORTANT they get the chance to get out of the shelter and stretch their legs on a regular basis! Walking also helps them learn how to behave properly around people and other animals in the community.

We've found that the more walks a dog gets, the more adoptable he/she becomes. Please help us increase the odds that our dogs will find good homes by making them as adoptable as possible!

Morning Cleaners from 8am to 12am

Elijah helps clean cages!

Mornings are hectic at the shelter! This is when all the animals need to be fed and watered, and cleaned up after. We struggle every day to get all these chores done in time to greet the public.

Recent staffing cuts due to a decreasing budget are making this harder than ever. If you have some morning time free, please give us a call! We can use all the help we can get!
