Info for visiting the animals
April 2, 2026
If you are interested in viewing the cats but do not want to adopt, you will need to sign up as a volunteer in advance.
Cat cuddler volunteers must be at least 18 years old or with a parent/guardian.
Signing up as a volunteer commits you to 2 hours a month – this can be done all in one day or in multiple days. Many of our cat cuddlers put in far more than the 2 hour minimum.
Already registered volunteers should sign up for their shifts at least a day in advance. Coming in without an appointment may mean that the volunteer shifts are full and you are not able to volunteer that day.
If you are interested in dog walking, we will have a training session at the end of April. Please email us at manager@furrypets.com to sign up for the dog walking class. Adopting or completing the dog walking class is the only way to visit the pups at LCHS.
If you want to adopt, you will need to submit an adoption application in advance.
There are many reasons that our program changed but one benefit is the stress level for the animals. At times, there were dozens of people going through our building, with lots of noise, children yelling, and no safe space for our shelter pets. Restricting the number of people at one time allows the animals to get comfortable with the volunteers and remain less stressed while they are at the shelter.
Thank you all for your support and understanding! Please email us at manager@furrypets.com to sign up as a volunteer.
