Adoption Services

Adoption Information! The first step is to submit the adoption application. We do not guarantee a same day adoption, especially on the weekends.

When submitting the application, please include:

-a state issued photo ID for the adopter

-the name, birthdate, and phone number for every adult in the home

-if you rent or are on a land contract, include the property owner’s name and phone number

Applications are typically reviewed within 48 hours. After the application is reviewed, we will contact you about setting up a time to come in to meet the animal. If you are approved, the adoption must occur within 48 hours, or the animal will not be held for you.

Cat and kitten adoption fees include a distemper combo vaccine with booster, microchip with registration through 24 Petwatch, dewormer treatment, spay or neuter, and rabies vaccine. Additional parasites are treated as necessary.

Dog and puppy adoption fees include a distemper combo vaccine with booster, kennel cough vaccine, microchip with registration through 24 Petwatch, dewormer treatment, spay or neuter, rabies vaccine, and certified vet exam. Additional parasites are treated as necessary.

There may also be an additional $100 surgery deposit that is refunded when the animal is returned for a spay or neuter surgery. This only applies if the animal is not already spayed or neutered. Cats and kittens must leave LCHS in a carrier. If you do not have a carrier, LCHS has cardboard carriers available for $10.55 each. Any credit/debit payment will have an additional 4% surcharge applied to the balance. Submitting an application is not a guarantee that an applicant will be approved to adopt an animal.

Please call LCHS with any questions regarding our process! We are happy to help. You can reach us at 715-536-3459.
